A Lenoir man was arrested after an assault at the hospital in Âé¶¹´«Ã½ on Sunday. Police say he hit a woman in the head with a gun at a local hospital and then fled.

Jason Scott Inman, 44, of Lenoir, was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun, communicating threats, carrying a concealed weapon and going armed to the terror of the people, according to a news release from the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Department of Public Safety.
Inman was charged after officers responded to UNC Health Blue Ridge in Âé¶¹´«Ã½ around 9:20 a.m. Sunday to reports of an armed man who had assaulted a female visitor, according to the release. Inman and the woman were visiting the same patient at the hospital, the release said.
Public safety said that, according to the victim and witness statements, Inman drew a handgun and pointed it at the victim while making threats. He then began to hit the female victim in the head with the gun, causing head trauma that required treatment, the release said.
Inman fled from the hospital. UNC Health security provided video surveillance footage of Inman leaving the hospital, the release said.
Inman was seen leaving the front of the hospital and walking down from the parking deck. He was not found on the hospital campus.
Âé¶¹´«Ã½ police asked the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office for help in finding Inman at his home address. Caldwell County deputies took Inman into custody at his home at 11:35 a.m. Sunday, the release said.
Inman was taken to the Caldwell County Jail under a $150,000 secured bond.
