A Connelly Springs man is facing charges after deputies say he stole two semitrucks from businesses in Hildebran on Monday.

James Andrew Brown, 44, of Connelly Springs, is charged with two counts of felony larceny of a motor vehicle, the Burke County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The sheriff’s office said it received reports on Monday of two semitrucks stolen from separate businesses in Hildebran. One of the trucks was hauling a 53-foot cargo trailer at the time of the theft.
During the investigation, the stolen cargo trailer was located abandoned in an empty lot on Leger Road in Valdese. Later that same day, one of the stolen semis was found partially concealed behind a residence on South Fork Avenue in Hickory, the release said.
Brown was identified as a suspect in the thefts, the sheriff’s office said.
On Tuesday, the second stolen semi was seen in the area of N.C. Highway 18 South near DAV Avenue in Âé¶¹´«Ã½. Deputies responded to the area, located the truck and performed a vehicle stop. Brown was identified as the driver and arrested, the release said.
The total value of the recovered items is $45,000, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Brown was transported to the Burke County Magistrate’s Office, where he was charged. He is currently being held without bond. His next court appearance is set for July 31 in Burke County District Court, according to a court records.
Brown is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
