A Â鶹´«Ã½ man is being held without bond after police say he broke into a garage and outbuilding at a property on Lenoir Road.
Â鶹´«Ã½ Department of Public Safety said officers responded to a breaking and entering with a larceny incident at a two-car detached garage located on Lenoir Road on Aug. 22.
During the investigation, officers discovered that a second detached outbuilding and a vehicle on the same property had also been broken into, according to a release from MDPS.
MDPS Investigator C.J. Clark arrested and charged Jeremiah Tyler Kirby, 23, of Morganton, the night of the incident with breaking and entering, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, felony larceny after breaking and entering and felony possession of stolen property. Some of the stolen property was recovered from Kirby’s residence that evening, according to MDPS.
Kirby was initially held on a $25,000 bond and was released after making bond, the release said.
Four days later, on Aug. 26, Kirby was charged with a probation violation related to breaking and entering and was held on a $10,000 bond. He was again released after making bond, MDPS said.
After further investigation, investigators executed a search warrant at Kirby’s home on Aug. 29, where they found numerous stolen items from the earlier incidents. Those items, which included hand tools, power tools, automotive equipment, flooring tools and fishing gear, were recovered and identified by the property owner, according to MDPS.
Methamphetamine also was found at the home, according to the release.
Because of the narcotics being found and concerns about the living conditions at the home, Burke County Department of Social Services was contacted to respond, the release said.
Kirby was charged with additional offenses including breaking and entering of the second outbuilding, possession of Schedule II methamphetamine and felony possession of stolen property, the release said.
MDPS said in its Wednesday release that Kirby is currently being held without bond.
Kirby has court dates in Burke County set for Friday, Sept. 22 and Sept. 24, according to a court system search.
Â鶹´«Ã½ Public Safety said it is continuing to investigate the case and encourages anyone with additional information to contact MDPS at 828-509-3701.
