James Marvin Crawley, 89, of Morganton, N.C., went to be with his wife and Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. He was born on January 24, 1936 in Burke County to the late Marvin Crawley and Vera Belle Keller Crawley. James was a member of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church and worked at Drexel Heritage. He enjoyed listening to bluegrass music. James was a hardworking family man and loved to be outside mowing grass.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Faye Graham Crawley; three sisters; one brother; three great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Carter and Jonathan.
He is survived by a daughter, Anna Ruth Kerley (Scott); grandson, Jonah Kerley (Lesli); sister, Betty Watkins; niece, Denise Harris; nephew, Doug Crawley; step great-grandchildren, Haley, Liam and Cullen; close family friend, Wanda Setzer.
A graveside service will begin at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2025 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Cris Uren officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, per James' request, memorial contributions may be made to the cemetery fund at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Magnolia Lane and Amorem for their loving and compassionate care of James.
