Twins aren’t uncommon. But in 12 hours?

The influx of infants occurred one day last week at Moses Cone’s Women & Children’s Center.

“As best as we can tell, this has to be a Cone Health record,� said nurse manager Amy Skrinjar, who has helped deliver babies at Moses Cone since 2007.

A total of 15 newborns arrived from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. that same day, including the five twin births.

So doctors, nurses and others were in Super Bowl mode — or at least the playoffs.

Skrinjar was there back in 2010 when 117 sets of twins were delivered that year at the Women & Children’s Center, where most babies born in the greater Greensboro area arrive.

Typically, the hospital sees two or three sets of twins a week. Nurses care for them, place them skin to skin to a parent when possible, and then have a second to adore what hath been created.

“It’s a very pleasant job,� Skrinjar said.

And can be busy.
