Two pedestrians were hurt in a wreck at West Fleming Drive near the N.C. School for the Deaf in Â鶹´«Ã½ on Wednesday evening.
West Fleming Drive was shut down Wednesday evening after two pedestrians were hit trying to cross the road.

The pair was trying to cross West Fleming Drive when the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m., said Lt. Aaron Palmer with the Â鶹´«Ã½ Department of Public Safety. Both pedestrians were taken to a local hospital.

West Fleming Drive was closed as of 7 p.m. in front of the school. Officers turned traffic around at the scene of the crash. Sgt. Joey Belanger said he expected the road to reopen around 9 p.m.
The identities of the individuals involved have not been released.
The crash remains under investigation, Palmer said. A crash reconstruction team is at the scene.
Burke County EMS, Burke County REACT and the Burke County Rescue Squad responded along with public safety.
